Tir-y-Don's Italian Renaissance Baronial Birthday - CANCELLED

Barony of Tir-y-Don

Please join us in celebration of Tir-y-Don’s baronial birthday. The time is 1500! The place is Florence! The Medici have been thrown out, the republic has been restored and Leonardo da Vinci returned. It’s time to have some fun!

FightingHeavy, rapier, and thrown weapons. Heavy and rapier baronial champion will be selected. The Archery Championship shoot will be held at Newport News Park prior to this event. Refer to the event website for details.
Arts & Sciences:

There will be several arts and sciences competitions.

1. In the Footsteps of the Masters - Make something inspired by or replicant from the works of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, or Botticelli. The piece can be of any medium and must be documented (EZ doc is acceptable).

2. Scroll Blanks - Mistress Tannis of Tir-y-Don is sponsoring a scroll blank competition. Scroll blanks must e based on an Italian manuscript, 1450 - 1550 C.E. The required documentation is: a copy of the exemplar the artist used for inspiration (this can be a photocopy of the page or bring a book with the page marked), a description of materials and methods used, and anything the artists feels the judge should know about your work. Entrants are encouraged to donate the scroll blanks to either the barony or the kingdom. Please lease at least 3/4 inch white boarder around the edge for framing. There are two prize categories: Novice (less than 2 years experience doing Illumination) and Experienced (2+ years experience doing Illumination).

3. Baronial Arts and Sciences Champion – refer to the event website for details.

4. A Year in the Arts & Sciences of Tir-y-Don - This is an open display for those who participated, taught or was inspired by Tir-y-Don's weekly Arts and Sciences classes. Refer to the event website for a detailed listing of classes.

5. Open Display - There will be limited space for artisans to display complete or incomplete work (no documentation needed).

Feast:Our feast will be a journey through 14th to 16th century Spain, prepared by Lady Christina O'Cleary and Andrei Barsukov. Menu is posted on the event website.
Merchanting:Merchants are welcome. Outside merchant space is available. NO indoor spaces. Please email the autocrat prior to April 1, 2020. There is no separate merchant fee; merchants pay the standard entrance fee (non-member fees if applicable).

Cost Notes:Pre-registered adult guests will receive a $3.00 discount per person for their gate fee (feast is not discounted). Youth ages 6 to 12 receive a $5.00 discount on feast. Guests may send pre-registrations to the reservationist below or register via PayPal.
