Event Description:

Once again horns sound as summer draws to a close and winter looms- the Huntsman returns to Ponte Alto to claim his dues. Traveler beware or be assimilated! The Hunt claimed its victims last year and has come back for more of our fair Atlantian populace but there is hope yet! Come join us once again in the Highlands of Ponte Alto for a day of games of skill and chance, of martial activities, and more to win back our friends and family, and once more defend our lands from the grip of the Huntsman. This year, in addition to our usual prizes of Last Atlantian Standing and Most Successful Hunter, we’ll be changing the game up to include Hero of the Populace as well! How does the game work? The Huntsman collects souls through challenges, be they martial or otherwise. Any member of the Hunt may challenge a member of the free populace, to terms agreed upon by both parties. If the Hunter wins, the free member of the populace joins the Hunt and may begin challenging the populace as well. If the Hunter loses, the challenged party goes free to fight another day. This year, attendees will be given the choice to begin as a member of the Hunt, or begin as a member of the free populace. Those still free may in turn challenge members of the Hunt to win them back from the grasp of the fae! If a member of the Hunt is challenged by a member of the free populace and loses the challenge, that person is then free of the Hunt (if they so desire). However, if a Hunter loses a challenge to a member of the free populace initiated by the Hunter, the Hunter remains in the Hunt. Rock-Paper-Scissors Challenge: We will be once again bringing back the Rock-Paper-Scissors challenges! If a Hunter or member of the populace wishes to employ Rock-Paper-Scissors as their challenge of choice, each party needs to be authorized in the forms they would like to use. Our wonderful MOL’s will have cards available all day. Other games and challenges to include: CABER TOSS (with mock cabers, we promise), bean-bag crossbow cornhole, Tug-O-War, Jomswikinger (everyone’s favorite Viking chest game), Stabbing For Apples, dancing classes and challenges, arm wrestling, foot races, and more! If the challenger and challenged can agree upon it, it can happen at the Hunt!

FightingMartial activities will include heavy, rapier, target archery, thrown weapons, and youth if there is sufficient interest. We are currently looking for marshals to run the heavy, rapier, thrown weapons, and youth events! If you are interested in participating, please contact the autocrat.
Arts & Sciences:Huntsman’s Food Fight: our cooking challenge returns! Bring your best Huntsman’s fare foods. There will be three categories judged: Appetizer/Vegetable, Entree, and Dessert. Documentation highly recommended, and additional renown for Scottish themed entries. This competition will be judged on baronial whim, and each entrant will receive comments on their work. Brewing: we will be running a Scottish themed brewing competition! Details to be determined as soon as we can. There will be an alcoholic and non-alcoholic category. Stay tuned! Mask Challenge: many times the Huntsman and his horde are pictured wearing terrifying masks to further instill fear in the populace. We are challenging those who wish to create a beautiful and terrifying mask to wear in the Hunt! It can be any style you like or any period, but some amount of documentation is preferred. Mini Iron Challenge: fancy yourself a medieval MacGyver? Come show off your skills! Entrants will be provided with a table of supplies with which they have to create something. It can be anything period or period-inspired. Documentation is required but limited to what you can find on Wikipedia the day of! EZ Doc forms will be provided. Entrants will have a 4- hour window at the event to create, document, and present their pieces. A list of available supplies will be posted ahead of time, to allow some planning if entrants desire! Categories judged will be youth and adult. Best Fix: Do you have something you worked on that just didn’t go right at the time? Did you actually get around to fixing it? We want to see! Come show off your best fix, even if that fix didn’t work right either! It could be garb, equipment, art and more. Documentation showing what happened and how you made the most of it is highly appreciated, especially if your fix used period methods! Bardic: Our Scary Stories Bardic circle returns as well! Come share your best scary story, poem, song, pun, and enjoy performances throughout the afternoon. Top 3 performers will be given the chance to perform at feast if they so choose! Open display: there will be space for open display of A&S projects and we would love to see absolutely anything you’ve been working on! If you know you would like to display something, please contact the autocrat to ensure we have the proper space save for you.
Feast:Lunch will be provided by TBD (if you are interested in hosting a fundraiser lunch, please contact the autocrat). Feast by pre-registration, due to limited space. The site is discreetly wet.
