During the Second Punic War, Hannibal famously led an army of war elephants across the Alps, although many of them perished in the harsh conditions. The surviving elephants were successfully used in the battle of Trebia, where they panicked the Roman cavalry and Gallic allies.  A mid eastern style event, Midnight at the Oasis incorporates scenarios involving war elephants with combat archers, crossing a narrow mountain pass followed by crossing the Trebia River, culminating at a Keep Battle.

 

The Activities begin Friday night with a Torchlight tourney, Armored Melees Saturday Noon after authorizations and inspections. The fighting will end on the List field with a matched weapons tourney. Rapier will begin their activities On the List field noon and then switch to the Melee field to complete the scenarios. The evening we will see the return of the ELEPHANT stomp Sir Jarrod the Bear will prepare a buffet style Mid East feast that will please the pickiest Sultans, Saracens and Crusaders.

Restrictions: All pets must be on a leash AND attended by a responsible person. No fishing in pond. Anyone caught supplying alcohol to minors or in anyway violating modern law WILL be removed from site and reported to Wake County Law enforcement. Fires must be in reliable metal fire pits. NO ground fires.
