Description:
Join the Barony of Hawkwood & Canton of Haukesgate as we ring in the season with an event to celebrate those that have gone before us and to remember that we, too, shall one day pass from this world.  Featuring spooky themed Heavy and Rapier scenarios, Arts and Sciences competitions, and more!

Bring tokens of loved ones that have passed to go on our sacred Offrenda in memory of those gone, and at nightfall join us around the campfire as we burn the wickerman to appease the vengeful spirits for another year passed....

General Activities

Martial Activities:
War is War and Hell is Hell , and today you will have taste of both. Seems the warriors attending Hawkwood's Momento Mori event all slept like death and woke up in a hotbed of trouble. They all stand by the river Styx and looming over them is the ferryman demanding his pay.

While they all brought their weapons, shields and gleaming armor, the fighters could only scrape enough coins together to buy passage to send but one of their souls to Elysium.

How better to determine who will represent Atlantia in the halls of the worthy dead than a grand tournament? A Round Robin tourney shall be held, with the top four warriors vying for passage across the Styx.

Charon accepts the terms, and chuckles as he adds a sinister twist to rules...what that shall be you must enter the lyst to find out. This format will be fought by all combatants, both heavy and rapier. For questions, please reach out to our MIC, Sir Roland Wodeman at rw59453@gmail.com

There will be no archery or thrown weapons at this event.

A&S:
Turnip and Root Vegetable Lanterns
As pumpkins were not traditionally used for Jack o lanterns in period, turnips were most common. Carve a turnip or other root vegetable with a face to keep away the bad spirits! (Rutabagas? Beets? Parsnips?) These will be lit upon the falling of dusk and displayed around the site to banish the darkness.

Tarot Card Competition
Create a set of 3 or more tarot cards in your chosen style. Be as creative as you wish! Any materials accepted.  Example materials are:  paper, card stock, wood, bone, gouache, pyrography, leather craft etc etc! Have fun and get as creative as you wish.

Order of The Silver Hawk sponsored A&S Competition:
This is an open competition!  Bring your best work to submit, and be judged by the populace!  Prize: a wonderful gift basket provided by the Order!

Feast:
Memento Mori will not have a seated feast.  Instead, we offer humble food that would have been eaten in the wake of mourning in the middle ages.    A simple peasant's affair: A robust root soup (V/GF/NF/DF), autumn salad with a balsamic vinaigrette (V/GF/DF/NF), and rustic bread. (V/DF/NF).  "feast" slots are $5 per person, and there are no slot limits. Everybody can partake!  Preregistering for feast will help with an accurate portion count and is encouraged, but not required.  Disposable plates and bowls will be available for individuals who do not have their own feast gear, but bringing your own is highly encouraged.

For dietary concerns or questions please reach out to our feastocrat, Lord Solomon Grey at kasan.ryukin@gmail.com

Merchants:
Please contact Baroness Veronica Pasamonte ( chatelain@hawkwood.atlantia.sca.org ) for field space!
