A&S:
"Brave The Winter Challenge" utilize your sewing
and weaving skills to create a beautiful winter-themed shall, cloak, or cape,
gloves, mittens to withstand the harsh elements. In this challenge extra points
will be added for use of Kingdom colors (White/Blue) within your pieces.
"Only the Hearty Survive" create a winter-themed
dish (vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free recipes allowed) that will fortify
Their Excellencies troops as they march into the wilderness and protect our
lands from our enemies. In this challenge taste and use of Baronial colors will
be the deciding factor. Hot and spicy or chilled and icy, come show the kingdom
your culinary skills this winter.
"Cold as Ice" create an original piece of jewelry,
belt-buckle, or other leather or metal piece of art that contains the color
blue in some form to celebrate the beauty of winter. With this challenge we
would like to put emphasis on the documentation for the “Blue” you chose.
"Bakers' Dozen" competition. Everyone enters 13 items of largesse (awards cords, scroll blanks, belt favors, etc.) The populace will use a bean count voting method. The winner gets 1 item from each entry and the other 12 will go to new Baronage. Please attach names (both SCA & Mundane) and contact info to each item.
These items will be judged and located in the small
classroom attached to the main hall in the building.

This feast is based on recipes in Athenaeus’ Deipnosophists and Apicius' De Re Coquinaria. These two famous works serve as a window into the dining habits of both ancient Rome and Greece.
While I normally try to ensure that my kitchen is nut-free for SCA feasts, that is all but impossible when preparing foods from these cultures. That being said, I am limiting the nuts in the feast to almonds and walnuts, and the dishes containing them will be prepared in a separate area using equipment brought for this purpose to avoid cross-contamination as much as possible.
