General Activities

Martial Activities:
Marshal in Charge: TBD
Rapier: Lord Lord Farþegn Keldansson
Archery: Lady Kara Bryttiadottir (karaoflochmere@gmail.com)
Thrown Weapons: Master Kryss Kostarev

Rapier Activities:
Tiny/Tall Tournament
Fighters will be divided equally into two groups by height, half the contenders will join the “Tiny Tournament” and half the contenders will join the “Tall Tournament”. Each tournament will be fought in a round robin with the top fighters from each pool having a finals match to determine the winners for each tournament. Finals will be a best of 3.
Note: Depending on timing and number of fighters, we may swap to a double elimination instead of a round robin. We may also have multiple pools going at once for each tournament.

Kunst Der Verteidigung (Art of Defense) – Titan’s Tournament
This competition is an art + fighting tournament wherein each entrant either teams up with an artist or makes a piece of art for the competition.

Each rapier fighter shall create a piece of art or team up with an artist as a partnership to form their Fighter/Artist team. The art will then be part of the prizes at the end of the tourney!

Art entries can be simple items such as baked goods or other easy creations, no documentation is required. Ideally items will be handmade.
Note: We will have a few extra art pieces for those that wish to participate in the tournament and weren’t able to complete an art piece. These will be first come first served and will be limited.

Art Prize Competition: Judged by participants of the tourney. Each fighter and Each artist will get one token to vote for the art they would most like to win. (Fighters who create their own art get 2 tokens – one for being an artist and one for being a fighter). Each art entry brought by a Fighter/Artist team will receive points equaling the number of teams plus 1 point for each token (ex: if 18 teams enter and the art received 5 tokens that art will have earned 23 points).

Rapier tournament: This will be a Swiss Round tournament. The winner of the tournament will receive points equaling the number of combatants. Each subsequent person will receive one less point (ex: If there are 18 entrants, first place gets 18 points, second place gets 17, third gets 16, etc).

Prizes: Will be distributed to the Fighter/Artist team with the highest combined point total first. One prize will be picked by the team (up to the team how they wish to handle it between them). We will then go through each team in point ordering.

Additionally, the first placed Fighter will receive a Torch which will serve as the entry fee for the Titan’s Tournament held at War of the Wings in October.
The first placed Artist will receive a prize to be announced at a later date.

Willkommen Bogenschützen!
Welcome Archers!

Join us at Night at the Faire for a Schützenfest (marksmen festival). As the legend goes, a fifteenth-century marksman (Schütze) shot down an eagle that had attacked a small child. The people in the village were so joyous that they made this hero an honorary king of the village for a year. In subsequent years, the villagers would hold a festival to commemorate this occasion with a sharpshooting competition, with the winner becoming honorary king for a year. Come join us for a range of German-inspired targets and our victor will become the Schützenkönig ("king of marksmen") for the event.

Range open/inspections: 10am
Range close: 3:30pm

Displays/Competitions:

Wanderjahre, or “Wandering Years” was the medieval equivalent of taking a gap year. After completing an apprenticeship, a young craftsman might travel for several years taking on commissions and gaining experience. Only after completing their wanderjahre would they be promoted by the guild to the level of master in their craft.

Artisans are invited to craft items that a wandering craftsperson may have with them on their travels; a travel journal, sturdy boots, a coinpurse, or perhaps the tools of their trade.

“It’s Not a Phase!” High Gothic Illumination
