Armored
WAR declares: this year’s tournament is ripped from Greek and Norse myths, still hot and smoking! Experience armored combat, fought on the border between life and death!

First is the trek to Gjöl and Gjallarbrú bridge, to trade speech with Móðguðr! Then onward to the river Styyx, to offer a haggle of bravery and steel to Charon’s fell fees!. Finally, those with warrior’s hearts shall face their final foe: the triple hot-breathed defiance of Cerberus!
(Practically, there will be open field, limited front, and bear pit style scenarios. There will also possibly be combat archery, if marshals in that discipline are handy.)
RapierTo open the day we will be holding the White Scarf Prize for Lady Caitlin inghean Ui Rhuaidhri, who will take on the representatives of the Academie.
Upon completion of the prize, a fencing tournament will be held, pitting skill against skill for honor and glory. Afterwards, melees will be used to practice the unparalleled Atlantian Art of War, culminating in a grand melee! Finally, we will open the fields for practice, to encourage growth in abilities and camaraderie.

Battle on the Bay Arts & Sciences Competition

CONTEST
Then quoth Metallica,
“The Horsemen are drawing nearer on the leather steeds they ride.”
“The Horsemen are drawing nearer on the leather steeds they ride.”
And the people rose up as one, demanding a contest whereby artisans depict one or more of the horsemen in any medium & provide brief documentation explaining the methods used & how that work of art embodies one or more of the horsemen.
DISPLAY
And there was much wailing & even more gnashing of teeth & thus, it was determined that there would also be a display of all the arts & all the sciences & all would be welcomed & appreciated. And further, it was decided that documentation would be optional. And the people rejoiced to hear it said.
Contact Lucy of Wigan (Lucy Wigan on FB) or at lucyofwigan@gmail.com for further details.

Arts and Sciences will have a novice competition for those who are participating in a particular art or discipline for 1 year or less, as well as a true novice competition for those who are new to society (playing for 1 year or less). Entries may be dropped off in the rear of the barn anytime from 9am to the conclusion of morning court. Please pick up your submissions at 4:00pm prior to afternoon court. We will also have some classes throughout the day. If you are interested in teaching a class, please contact Cuno (Joseph Glancy).

Thrown Weapons
For Battle on the Bay we have some exciting stuff planned for the Thrown weapons range this year!
For Battle on the Bay we have some exciting stuff planned for the Thrown weapons range this year!
- We are currently planning to have four targets for axes and knives, one soft spear target, one hard spear target, and a ground target for plumbata. The hard spear target is specifically designed to simulate a shield, and the goal is to pierce the shield. This target was designed with the Roman Pilum in mind. We plan to have a small anvil available if throwers need to straighten their spears.
- There will be a tournament on Saturday, but we have not finalized plans for that tournament at this time.
- On Friday evening, we are hoping to have a night throw is there is enough interest.
Coursing
SeaDogs Run will be out and about at Battle on the Bay on Saturday, September 6th. Due to space allocation and safety concerns, we will be running a HALF course of a 50 yard dash. We welcome all dogs who are:
- at least 1 year of age,
- have proof of Rabies and Distemper/Parvo (DAPP) vaccinations
- want to try it!
Remember, only one dog runs at a time and it is 100% fenced in. You can even run with your dog the first time if you want to show them what to do.
As always, volunteers are needed to put up and take down the course, scribe and time.
Everyone is welcome to come watch. Zwart and I will be there to play as well.
