Description:
A Call to the Shores of Lochmere
— Hear Ye, Corsairs, Craftsmen & Champions of the Realm —
Two great tides converge upon our port this April day. The first is the thunder of war
– for the Knowne World stirs, and Atlantia’s shores cry out for bold
defenders. The second is something rarer and more magnificent still: the Investiture of a new Baron and Baroness, the turning of the Coronet, and the solemn, joyful ceremony by which a Barony bids farewell to beloved leaders and steps with courage into a shining new chapter.
Come, then, all who sail under Lochmere’s colours. Come as
adventurer, artisan, loyal subject, and dear friend. Bring your blades
and voices, your woodcraft and your knowledge of herb and healing.
Compete for an honoured place in the new baronial flagship’s crew, and
bear witness to a ceremony that shall be spoken of in every tavern and
great hall across Atlantia for years to come.
And when the tourneys and ceremonies have run their course, Lochmart
opens its stalls at the portside – a market of SCA wares, curiosities,
and hidden treasures. Come to buy, to sell, and to linger in the company
of good shipmates, well-met upon these celebrated shores.
Fair Winds, Their Excellencies
— A Celebration of Baron Linhart & Baroness Letia —
Every great voyage must have its homecoming. Every captain who has
kept the watch through dark nights and squalling seas must one day hand
the wheel to another – not in defeat, but in well-earned, glorious
triumph. That day has come for Their Excellencies Baron Linhart and Baroness Letia of Lochmere, and we would not let it pass without raising every voice in the barony to honour them as they deserve.
They took the helm when it was offered and steered this barony through calm waters and turbulent seas alike – with wisdom, with warmth, and with an open hand
extended always toward those who needed it. Strangers were made
welcome. Arts were championed. The martial spirit was honoured. And
through it all, the people of Lochmere were never once forgotten.
Their legacy is woven into the fabric of this barony: in every tournament they presided over, every feast they graced, every newcomer they welcomed into the fold, and every adventurer they inspired to go further and dare more. Lochmere is a richer, braver, and more beloved barony for every hour they wore the Coronet.
But a captain of their calibre does not retire quietly to the docks. Greater adventures await them beyond the horizon
– new seas to chart, new ports to discover, new tales to carry home and
tell by firelight. We bid them not farewell with sorrow, but with the
full-throated roar of a crew that knows it has sailed with the absolute
best.
Raise your cups, Lochmere. Raise your voices. Fair winds and
following seas, Their Excellencies – the Known World is richer for your
captaincy, and all who sail in your wake are the better for it.
Titles & Competitions
— Earn Thy Place Among the Crew —
Attendees will earn standings points in each discipline in which they
compete and may compete in multiple aspects of the event to earn the
captaincy of the new vessel, with discipline winners winning titles of
their own. To be eligible for the captaincy, an attendee must compete in
a minimum of three disciplines, at least one of which must be martial
and one non-martial. A competitor may only hold one role in the crew, so
winners of multiple disciplines will choose one title and pass any
others to the next eligible runner-up. The overall winner will be
decided by highest average score among eligible attendees.
The titles for winners are as follows:
- Captain: The highest average scorer among eligible competitors
- First Mate: Winner of the rapier tournament
- Sharpshooter: Winner of the archery tournament
- Marine: Winner of the thrown weapons tournament
- Ship’s Carpenter: Winner of the woodworking competition
- Ship’s Physician: Winner of the period medicine/herbalism competition
- Ship’s Musician: Winner of the Bardic Competition
NOTE: This Event will occur rain, shine, or chilly
cold! There are contingencies in place for adverse weather conditions.
We hope you come share the light and warmth of your presence regardless
of what Mother Nature throws at us!

Period medicine/herbalism competition
Ship’s doctors were often isolated, working with salves,
tinctures, and potions prepared and stocked ahead of time or from dried
herbs and other medicinal plants and sometimes animal parts. Showcase
your skills by recreating a period recipe that could be either made ahead and stored for long periods or made fresh using items that were stored.
Document the ingredients, methods, and what ailment the recipe was purported to cure. Please clearly mark if your recipe is to be consumed or not. Special shout out to anyone who can work in crabs (the animal, not the disease) in honor of Lochmere on the occasion of the elevation of new Baronage. This will be judged by the new Baroness and Baron.
Note: This is a dry site and alcohol is not permitted.

Woodworking Competition
Ship’s carpenters are skillful folk, able to tackle projects
large and small. Show off your woodworking skill on a project of your
choice.
Provide documentation showcasing how you followed period practices to the best of your ability and why any deviations were required. Highlight the timing of each of the project’s steps to completion. Only pieces that have not previously won a competition are allowed. Special shout out to anyone who can work in crabs in honor of Lochmere on the occasion of the elevation of new Baronage. This will be judged by populace vote.

Bardic Competition (starting at 1:30 pm)
Sound out with voices strong, in poem, story, or song. As sailors
on ships at sea or minstrels in taverns at port entertain with stories,
poems, and songs, so too are you invited to bring your best Bardic
form telling of sea related themes: ships, travel, the sea, mythics of
the ocean, sailors, long distance lovers, ports, trade, and more.
Anything you can relate to the theme of the event!
Space will be available for anyone who would like to provide a written document for perusal but a performance of no more than 5 minutes per bard is requested. Special shout out to anyone who can work in crabs in honor of Lochmere on the occasion of the elevation of new Baronage.
